About our Products

The STAR-PLUG Plastic Wall Plug is manufactured from virtually indestructible plastic. It does not decompose with age, crumble or break. It is non-shrinkable, and continually maintains a vice like grip on the inserted screw. It is not affected by acids, oils, or any chemically destructive agent.

The cone-shape at one end of the STAR-PLUG allows it to slide home easily and surely into its pre-drilled hole. It is flat at the other end, and in case it fits too tightly into the hole, it can still be hammered in easily without breaking or slipping out.

STAR-PLUGS have a porcupine effect. When the screw is inserted the longitudinal outer laps immediately rise and prevent the plug from turning in the hole.

The inner laps are self-centering, and keep the screw to a straight path. These inner laps also point in the same direction in which the screw turns, thus allowing the screw to enter and turn easily.

When the screw is in as far as it will go all the laps on the inner wall of the plug will have a closed tightly around it like a compact ring, making it unnecessary to tighten the screw any further.

The plug can be knocked into the wall with a hammer. When the outer end of the plug has reached the surface of the wall, place another plug behind the first one and go on hammering until the first plug has been driven home. Always take good care that the drill, screw and plug match, as indicated on each bag.

Useful Hints

Always drill the hole so deep that the outer end of the plug enters until slightly behind the surface of the wall.

In a plaster wall, the outer end of the plug must be farther in that the plaster layer, otherwise there is a risk that the fragments of plaster will come off around the hole when the screw is tightened, because the plug expands in the soft material first.  And frayed holes are always unsightly.

In general, do not ever place plugs in plaster or in joints.  You will only be kidding yourself, as plaster and mortar have no bearing capacity whatsoever.  The plug belongs in the solid wall.
